The 54 Stratocaster Experience

The real 54

As a guitar player at heart I've always loved and gravitated towards the tried and trusted Fender Stratocaster that has been a staple go to guitar for many players since it's creation back in 1954. Really there is nothing that quite sounds like a true Strat and it's that sound which I've grown to love and use as my base for my playing and tone. Eventhough I own other instruments the Stratocaster is the go to guitar for me.

I was in Regent Sounds in London on Denmark Street when I got to play the real 54 and having played it, the guitar wasn't really a guitar but more a piece of musical history and an ideal; as it sounded like you'd expect a Stratocaster to sound and feel like a Stratocaster should feel. it wasn't hard to play but it wasn't too easy so it felt rewarding like guitar playing should be. For a 62 year old guitar it was in great condition, yes it had been well played and well looked after but It felt and looked like it had much left to give.

Overall despite not having the money to own such an instrument mearly seeing one and playing one in the flesh has been a life long dream of mine I will never forget the day when I played a true piece of musical history a genuine 1954 Stratocaster.
